The Romanian Athenaeum is one of the most famous monuments of Bucharest. For the construction of the building, a public fundraising campaign was organized at the end of the 19th century under the slogan "Give a lion to the Athena!". The opera of the French architect Albert Galleron, Athenaeum impresses through the building in neoclassical and eclectic style, but also through the interior painting. The construction began in 1886 and was completed in February 1888.
